A Catalyst is an essential tool for manipulating the æthereal energies that permeate the world Salt, typically consisting of gem-cut Æthercite adorning a wand, idol, or talisman. A wielder of an Æthercite Catalyst can concentrate their thoughts through the Æthercite to manifest and launch an energy blast from the palm of their hand. Typically, the Æthercite functions as a power source for the device to facilitate blasts, but in the hands of an Adept, it becomes a tool for accessing their wide array of mystical powers. Catalysts are often required to facilitate many Arcana Ability Checks or interact with Magickal Entities, Objects, or Devices. Investing in Catalyst Training will enhance a Character’s Force Impact and Arcana Ability Statistics at every Odd Rank and their Attack and Damage Rolls with Cast Weapons, and their total available Heroic Action Slots on Even Ranks. At Rank Five(5) and Ten(10), the Character’s Base Scale with any Weapon increases by plus One(+1), permanently increasing their Weapon Damage with all Weapons. A New Equipment Modification Slot becomes available at the First(1st) Equipment Rank and every Three(3) Equipment Ranks thereafter.

Æthercite Catalyst Heroics

Force Blade

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 1) & Any Melee (Any Rank)

AP Cost: 5

Action Type: Cast Weapon Attack

Range: Adjacent

As a Standard Action, you can attempt a Cast Weapon Attack against an Adjacent Target using your equipped Catalyst Weapon to manifest a Ætheral blade directly in your hands. If successful, your Target suffers your normal Weapon Damage as Force Damage with an additional 1D6 Force Damage for every Two(2) Points of your Focus Attribute. 

Conjured Dart

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 1)

AP Cost: 5

Action Type: Rapid Action

Range: Catalyst Range

As a Rapid Action, you fire an unavoidable light pulse of Æthereal energy that inflicts your Minimum Weapon Damage to a Target within your Effective Catalyst Range. 

Force Bolt

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 2)

AP Cost: 10

Action Type: Cast Weapon Attack

Range: Catalyst Range

As a Standard Action, you can attempt a Cast Weapon Attack against a Target within your Effect Catalyst Range by channeling your Æthereal energy into a large bolt that sears anything it touches. If successful, in addition to your normal Weapon Damage, your Target suffers 1D8 Force Damage for every Two(2) Points of your Focus Attribute. 

Tractor Ray

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 2)

Action Type: Rapid Action

As a Rapid Action, you can retrieve any unattended Object, Device, or Item within your Effective Catalyst Range. 

Monarch Tendril

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 3)

AP Cost: 15

Action Type: Standard Action

Range: Half(½) Catalyst Range

As a Standard Action, you can manifest an Ætheral limb that lashes out at a Target within Half(½) of your Effective Catalyst Range to inflict a Maneuver of your choice. Your Target can attempt a contested Maneuver against your Force Impact to Negate your Maneuver. If you use Monarch Tendril to initiate a Grapple, you can move your Target to an Adjacent Space. Alternatively, you can use Monarch Tendril to traverse the environment or retrieve an unattended Item as a part of Exploring. 

Psychic Drag

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 3)

AP Cost: 15

Action Type: Standard Action

Range: Catalyst Range

As a Standard Action, you can lift and forcefully move a Target a number of Paces equal to Half(½) of your Focus Attribute in the direction of your choice. An unwilling Target can attempt a Physical Save against your Force Impact to Negate the Forced Movement Effect. 

Force Cleave

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 4)

AP Cost: 20

Action Type: Standard Action

Range: Two(2) Paces(Cone)

As a Standard Action, you can channel your Æthereal magicks to conjure a swath of deadly magicks in a Cone up to Two(2) Paces, inflicting 1D8 for every Two(2) Points of your Focus Attribute to any Targets with the Affected Area. In addition, affected Targets can attempt a Physical Save against your Force Impact to cut any Damage in Half(½). 

Æther Wave

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 4)

AP Cost: 20

Action Type: Standard Action

Range: Adjacent

As a Standard Action, you channel your Æthereal energies into your fists as you slam the ground, inflicting 1D8 Force Damage for every Point of your Focus Attribute to all Adjacent Targets and knocking them back a single Pace away from you. Affected Targets can attempt a Physical Save against your Force Impact to cut any Damage in Half(½) and Negate the Forced Movement Effect.

Æther Breath

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 5)

AP Cost: 25

Action Type: Full Action

Range: Half(½) Catalyst Range(Cone)

Effect Duration: Rounds 

As a Full Action, you can absorb intense Æthereal energies into your body. For the Effect Duration, as a Rapid Action, you can release a belch of lethal magicks that inflicts 1D6 Force Damage for every Two(2) Points of your Focus Attribute against any Targets within a Cone up to Half(½) of your Effective Catalyst Range. Affected Targets can attempt a Physical Save against your Force Impact to cut any Damage in Half(½).

Long Volley

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 5)

AP Cost: 25

Action Type: Reaction

Range: Double(2*)Catalyst Range

As a Reaction to attempting any Cast Weapon Attack, you can Double(2*) your Effective Catalyst Range until the end of your Turn. 

Æthershape

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 6)

AP Cost: 30

Action Type: Full Action/ Interaction

Effect Duration: Minutes

As a Full Action, you can use your Æthercite Catalyst to project an illusory effect within your Effective Catalyst Range. Creatures that can perceive or interact with your illusion suffer the Delusion Miscognition for the Effect Duration. Affected Targets can attempt a Force Save, or Investigation Ability Check against your Force Impact to Negate the Delusion Miscognition. Alternatively, you can use your magicks to manifest an illusion or alter the appearance of reality using an Arcana Ability Check in place of any Deception Ability Check made to deceive others. 

Reflector Ray

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 7)

AP Cost: 35

Action Type: Full Action

Range: Catalyst Range

As a Full Action, you can channel your power to fire a reflective beam that Jumps between Creatures with your initial Target within your Effective Catalyst Range, inflicting 1D8 Force Damage for every Point of your Focus Attribute to each Target struck before jumping to a new Target within Half(½) your Effective Catalyst Range. You can only hit each Target once. Reflector Ray can be reflected once for every Two(2) Points of your Will Attribute. Affected Targets can attempt a Physical Save against your Force Impact to cut any Damage in Half(½).

Vexer Beam

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 8)

Action Type: Full Action

Range: Catalyst Range(Line)

Effect Duration: Rounds

As a Full Action, you manifest an orb of enthralling light that receives your channeled Æthereal energy while mesmerizing Creatures that can perceive it through the Enthralled Miscognition. You can continue to direct the light and increase its size as a Standard Action. At the end of the Effect Duration or whenever you choose to release it, you fire a powerful beam of light that sears all Targets in a straight line up to your Effective Catalyst Range with 1D8 Pyrotic and 1D8 Electric Damage for every Two(2) Points of your Focus Attribute multiplied by the number of Turns spent channeling the Vexxer Beam. Affected Targets can attempt a Force Save against your Force Impact to Negate the Enthralled Miscognition. Affected Targets can try a Physical Save against your Force Impact to cut any Damage in Half(½)

Diamond Crescent

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 9)

AP Cost: 45

Action Type: Full Action

Range: Half(½) Catalyst Range(Cone)

As a Full Action, you manifest a wave of atom-thick hardened Æthereal energy that can slash through most substances within a Cone up you Half(½) of your Effect Catalyst Range that inflicts 1D10 Slash and 1D10 Force Damage for every Point of your Focus Attribute and inflicts the Broken Condition on any unattended Items, Objects or Devices within the Affected Area. Affected targets can attempt a Physical Save against your Force Impact to cut any Damage in Half(½) or to Negate the Broken Condition for an Adjacent Object. You can also use Diamond Crescent to breach through walls, pillars, or barriers easily.

Star Barrage

Prerequisite: Catalyst (Rank 10)

AP Cost: 50

Action Type: Cast Weapon Attack

Range: Catalyst Range(Radius)

As a Full Action, you can attempt a Cast Weapon Attack against any number of Targets within your Effective Catalyst Range by firing a brilliant ball of Æthereal energies that cascades down on your Targets below. If successful, in addition to your normal Weapon Damage, your Targets suffer an additional 1D10 Force Damage for every Point of your Focus Attribute.
