Now that the core aspects of your Character have been outlined by selecting a Birthrite, your Base Classes, and your Equipment, you are ready for some bells and whistles; to put a shine on your Character’s passive qualities and how they may be of a benefit to the Player of the Company. In the basest of terms, a Perk is a passive upgrade that will provide a bonus or lightly alter the rules of play for a Character from a wide variety of categories and potential, often circumstantial functions. A New Perk is awarded to a Character every Even Character Level, chosen from the lists provided in this section. For example, with a maximum Character Level of Forty(40), a Character that sees the absolute peak of their potential would reasonably select Twenty(20) Perks, in addition to any earned Mastery Perks, through their career. A Perk can be any generic Ability enhancement, the influence of a combat discipline, or enhanced utility or skill with a choice piece of Equipment. Many Perks have a prerequisite of Class, Equipment, or Ability requirements that you must meet before being accessible to the Character.

Perk Categories

There are well over Five-Hundred(500) Perks to choose from in this section, divided among the following categories:

Interaction Perks:

Interaction Perks primarily focus on adjustments made to how a Character can Explore and Interact with their surroundings. This may confer a circumstantial bonus to an Ability Check or additional options when navigating specific situations.

Combat Perks:

Combat Perks seek to influence how a Character behaves in Combat directly. This may increase effectiveness with specific Maneuvers or styles of fighting or make them more resilient against certain circumstances.

Class Perks:

Class Perks will directly influence the way a Character’s Class Features function or operate. Class Perks may have a more impactful adjustment to the way a Character can act, but narrowed within the scope of their Class.

Equipment Perks:

Equipment Perks influence how a Character can handle or utilize their Equipment. Equipment Perks are primarily dependent on their selected Equipment, such as Weapons, Armor, and Elemental Training.

Mastery Perks:

Mastery Perks are unique in that they have strict prerequisites required for access and are only granted when a Character reaches Equipment Rank Ten(10) in an Equipment Training or Tenderfoot Rank Ten(10) as part of the Tenderfoot's Mastery Class Feature. Mastery Perks offer incredible benefits, above and beyond what is provided by the other Perk Categories.
