Rise & Fall

ArmsmanMechanic

“I’ll keep an eye from up top and drop in if you get into trouble. Good luck, kid.”

~ Ricard Everhart, Remnant Dragoon

The technology planted by the fall of the Fonterra is the true salvation for those looking to survive Salt and thrive in this desolate place. Many know that the tools and weapons salvaged, scrapped, and reforged from the Old World are vital in keeping one’s insides from becoming one’s outsides. Resourceful fighters with an eye for technology equip themselves with whatever tool they need to do the job, whether a wrench or a blade.

As the hybridization of the Armsman and Mechanic Base Classes, the Dragoon is an iconic melee fighter that utilizes technology to enhance combat performance. The trademark of a Dragoon is their command of a Drakken Drone, which can be equipped to give the Dragoon the power of flight. The Dragoon specializes in destroying machines, and utilizing technology to alter their body and weapons while expertly flying and diving into their opponents from above.

Historically Speaking

The Dragoon can trace their history to the isolated Aachen Temple, a secluded monastery of Enclave Remnants tucked away in the western mountain folds bordering the Dust. Aachen was the first shard of the Fonterra to touch down planetside following the destruction of the superstructure. Remnants Reigniting from Stasis within the ruin heavily depended on Aachen's arcane technologies to traverse the mountains' treacherous terrain. Aachen’s Dragoons and Machinists, and the Archives they safeguarded, played a vital role in forming the Eternal Enclave. The massive reserves of archived research data buried within Aachen may contain the keys that unlock countless lost secrets. Remnant leaders outfitted their fiercest warriors with incredible technology, charging them with recovering and preserving the Old World, but little remained.

The Modern Dragoon

As one could expect, the heavily-kitted flying Enclave Dragoons caught the eye of imitators and competitors alike. The methodology created by the Dragoons became a discipline of choice for explorers seeking out hard-to-reach terrains, such as the depths of the Abyssian. Others. The seafaring Mercan Ariste found the incredible mobility offered by Dragoons too valuable to ignore. Modern Dragoons are highly valued members of adventuring Companies for their expertise as shock troopers, mobile explorers, and enhanced fighters. A Dragoon can easily transition to a career as a pilot, surveyor, or scout. Unscrupulous Dragoons employ devastating hit-and-run tactics and vanish out of reach of pursuers.

Class Features

The Dragoon's Class Features are focused on destroying machines with Melee Attacks, empowering their physical capabilities through technology, and operating the versatile Drakken Drone. The Dragoon Class benefits from having high Power, Will, Skill, and Grit Attributes.

Lockdown

Beginning at Dragoon Rank One (1), the Dragoon may utilize a Wound to inflict Injuries against machines and other mechanical creatures, even if the target would typically be Immune to that Injury by its morphology, such as Bleed. Additionally, the Dragoon can use Wound to initialize a forced reset on a machine or mechanical creature, inflicting the Deactivated Condition for the Dragoon’s Effect Duration in Rounds. A Force Save against the Attack roll negates the condition.

Cybersoldier

Beginning at Dragoon Rank One (1), whenever the Dragoon’s Drone is not engaged in an action, the Dragoon retains the Assisted Condition bonuses of Drone Control.

Drone Model: Drakken

Beginning at Dragoon Rank Three (3), the Dragoon gains access to the Drakken Drone, a Small-sized winged Drone that passively retains the Flight Enhancement. The Drakken Drone can be equipped as Gear to the Dragoon’s Back Gear Slot. While equipped, the Drakken Drone’s Flight Enhancement extends to the Dragoon, while retaining the Drone Upgrades of Cybersoldier.

Drakken Dive

Beginning at Dragoon Rank Five (5), the Dragoon increases their Daily Uses of Wound by an amount equivalent to half (½) of their Will Attribute. As a Full Action, while wearing their Drakken Drone, the Dragoon can break into a flying charge in a straight line within a distance equal to Double (2*) the Dragoon’s Speed. Upon reaching their target, the Dragoon unleashes a devastating Melee Attack that inflicts twice (2*) the Character’s Power Attribute as a Precision Enhancement bonus to Damage Rolls, triple (3*) if wielding a Two-handed Melee Weapon.

Unstoppable Force

Once at Dragoon Rank Seven (7), the Dragoon utilizes their forward momentum to amplify their capabilities in melee combat. The Dragoon gains a Hasten Enhancement bonus (+1) to any Attack or Damage Rolls for each pace moved during their turn before an Attack. Unstoppable Force has a maximum capacity equivalent to the Dragoon’s Will Attribute. Unstoppable Force fades to zero (0) at the end of the Round or after an Attack roll.

Drakkenheart

As a Master Dragoon, at Dragoon Rank Ten (10), whenever a Dying Dragoon Stabilizes or Restores Hit Points, the Dragoon instantly heals 2D10 Hit Points per point of their Will Attribute.
